Our last lab of the semester

Giving an injection to my dummie

Jessie assaulting me with the dummie!!

Drawing my medication from a vial

Practicing injections on the hot dog!!

Inserting an NG tube into the dummie- up the nose, down the esophagus & into the stomach

We had a fun afternoon in lab! We inserted NG (nasogastric) tubes into our dummies. I also finally took pictures of practicing injections! We learned how to give them awhile ago and I have already given one to a real patient!! Today was our last lab for the semester so enjoy these pictures cause this is it till fall....although, I don't know how my new instructor will feel about taking pictures during lab...we'll see :) I learned so much this semester in lab- bed making, bed baths, enemas, injections, wound care, PO meds and many other things! It has been amazing.

The CMT's!!!!

Me and Rebecca getting ready to head over to the show!!

Me sitting in one of the seats that Rascal Flatts sat in! It's not much but it's something!

The boys from Rascal Flatts accepting an award!
The CMT awards were AMAZING!!! From the beginning...
3:00-6:00 Standing in line to get into the mosh area. All the limos were going down the hill we were on to drop of whoever they were driving on the red carpet. It was hard to see in the tinted windows but I know for a fact that Taylor Swift, Leann Rimes and Kelly Pickler drove by.
6:00-7:00 Found the best spot we could and ended up right in front of the main stage area where everyone accepted their awards. Rascal Flatts also made their way down to this part of the stage during their opening performance. Closer to 6:45 the celebrities made their way into the event center and then the show started right on time.
7:00-9:30 The show! I saw performances by Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Hank Williams Jr., Kenny Chesney, Carrie Underwood and others. Everyone sounded incredible! During commercials I was seriously going insane because we were about 20 feet away from Rascal Flatts...so close yet so far. It was truly painful.
10:00 Rebecca and I, with high hopes went to where the celebrity after party was being held. No surprise...we did not get in! At least we can say we tried :)
It was an awesome night and I still can't believe that I got to go!!! Hope you enjoy the pictures. They are cell phone pics so obviously not the best quality!

Getting ready for the CMT Awards!!!

Standing in front of Rascal Flatt's tour bus!!!

Me and Jeff Foxworthy- the host of the CMT awards!!

During the dress rehearsal. Carrie Underwood is on the stage, in a white top with a black hat. Click on the photo and you'll see it better!

I went to the CMT awards dress rehearsal with my cousin and her friend this evening. It was AMAZING!! We got to see the closed set and watch Carrie Underwood perform 'Before he cheats' four times! We were standing right next to the stage! Seriously, we were so close that I could have touched her foot!! She sounded great and was really nice to the audience. I cannot wait for Monday night!!! I got a free wristband to attend the show and will be back in the mosh area watching performances by Rascal Flatts, Sugarland and Carrie Underwood among many others.

The real deal!!

Me and Becca

Becca, me and Amanda after surgery!!

Anethesiologist and his equipment

All the sterile equipment. The patient is draped and on the right side of the picture laying on their stomach. They used a really cool operating table since it was a spinal surgery.

Me and Chip

I had the amazing opportunity of going to a Nashville hospital today and observing surgeries in the OR. Chip, who is in the nursing program at Belmont invited a few students to spend a few hours in the OR. The doctors were happy to have us there and showed us everything they were doing. I stood right next to the operating table and looked at the patient's vertebrae. We saw everything from the first incision to last suture and it was incredible. It's a little more exciting than giving bed baths and changing bedpans. It was nice to see where we could be working in 2 years. Many options in nursing. Hope you enjoy these awesome pictures!!

Easter with friends & family

The cousins: Kelsey, Katie, Christy & me

Me, Beau, Becca & Hayden

It was hard to not be with my family for Easter but I still had a wonderful day! I had an Easter lunch with the Craigs and some of their friends from church. Their Swiss friends brought over these special grills and we had a very cultural Easter lunch! The whole process of the meal is hard to explain but it was delicious. Then for dinner I went over to Beau and Becca's (she is a nursing school friend and is in many other photos on the blog!!). We had a great time--yummy food and lots of laughs! Hanging out with them makes me feel like I'm home.

Easter Eggs!!

Here are some lovely pictures of Whitney and I decorating Easter eggs! The gloves came in handy with the dye....nice perk of being a nursing student! We encountered a few problems which is evident in the pictures where we are looking a little sad. In the end our eggs were as pretty as us....although that may not be a good thing....for us that is :) Happy Easter!!
